Nestled in the Pyrenees is the tiny principality of Andorra. Even if skiing is not for you there is plenty to occupy your time in the mountain resorts of Andorra.
If you fancy a bit of pampering, then perhaps take a visit to Caldea. It is thought to be the largest spa town in the whole of Southern Europe. Considering it is cold all year round an outside Jacuzzi might not appeal to you, if it doesn’t, use one of their indoor ones. You can also have treatments such as massages and facials. They have UVA cabins, hammam and three restaurants too. Space is limited for client comfort and enjoyment so try to book in advance if you plan to visit as there may also be restricted times, such as for school trips.
Make sure you don’t miss Madriu Valley, one of UNESCO’s listed sites – the views are stunning, and the area remains very traditional. To get there you will likely need to hire a car. You can arrange your Andorra car hire before you leave home, that way you can ensure you get the right car for you. Leaving it until the last minute might mean there are only limited vehicles left, some may not be suitable for your needs.
If you don’t wish to drive you can hike along some of the many amazing trails Andorra boasts. There are trails for every fitness level and take in river and lake views. Make sure you take your camera, and wrap up nice and warm, it can get chilly out there.
Surprisingly, even though Andorra is such a small country, they play a wide range of sports. If you are a sports fan you may be able to catch a game of football, rugby or even basketball. If your favourite sport is more adrenaline fuelled then you might be into their car or motorbike rallies.
The only official town in Andorra (the rest are considered hamlets or villages due to their population size) is Andorra la Vella. This is also the nation’s capital. Here you can see churches that date back to the 12th century, government buildings and great architecture. The location of the capital is spectacular with stunning views, like almost all of the country.
